 Before diving into the importance of an SSL certificate for a website, lets us first know what SSL Certificate is. SSL Certificate is a security protocol that authenticates to identify a website and establishes an encrypted connection between the web server and web browser and ensures the safety of the website and its visitors.  

SSL certificate contains the certificate holder's name, its serial number, and expiration date. SSL certificate keeps the website safe from hackers. The SSL protocol determines encryption variables for both the link and the transmitted data. SSL certificate shows the visitors that your website can be trusted completely. It provides an extra measure of privacy and security when exploring the web.

  4. Then the web server returns a digital acknowledge signature to start an encrypted session.

  5. The data is then shared with the server and the browser and then the transaction takes place.
