 Domain name system means the IP address of the website. The domain name system turns the domain name into the IP address so the browser can load internet resources quickly. Once the DNS server finds the correct IP addresses, the browser takes the address and uses it to send data to content delivery networks edge servers or origin servers. So as you know about DNS systems, now let's jump into how DNS works.

The main factor of DNS is to convert a hostname into computer-friendly IP addresses. IP addresses are given to each device on the internet, and the address is necessary to find the appropriate internet device. When a user wants to load a webpage, a translation must occur that a user types into the web browser and the machine-friendly address to locate the.com web page.

Types of DNS Server

  • DNS Recursor - The DNS recursor is a server designed to receive queries from client-server through applications such as web browsers. The recursor then requests in order to satisfy the client's DNS queries. 
  • Root name server - The root name is the first step to translating the hostname into the IP address. Typically it serves as a reference to other locations. 
  • TLD name server - TLD is the highest level of domain names in the root zone of the DNS of the internet. TLD is the next step in search of the specific IP address, and it hosts the last portion of the hostname, for example.com.
