.COM or.ORG - Which Domain Extension Should I Buy?

With dozens of domains available, .com and .org are two of the most used and preferred domain extensions. One of the main differences between .com and .org is that .com is mainly used for commercial use, for example, business works and all, while .org is intended for charity and nonprofit organizations. .com stands for “commercial” purposes as it was basically made by intending commercial business. .com came into existence in January 1985. Even nonprofessionals can register for the .com domain as it is the most popular domain name. Since .com is the most trusted and widely used extension, approximately 52.6% of website owner uses the .com domain extension for their websites. Nowadays, because of its popularity and user-friendliness, most people are choosing names with the .com extension at their end. So now a day it would be hard for you to find and buy a domain name that you like with a .com domain extension. However, you can also check whether the domain name is available or not in the Whois database. 


.org 

.org domain name extension was introduced in the year 1985. It was truncated from the organization. It was one of the original domains. It originated as an extension exclusively for nonprofits, but now it is available for everyone. Nowadays, it is been also used by websites that don't have a profit base but do also provide the public with free information and resources. Which makes it another good backup if your first choice, .com, is taken. 

Difference between .com and .org domain extension 

  • .com is mainly for nonprofit organizations, and .org is mainly for for-profit organizations.

  • In case of availability, as .com is mostly preferred domain name, it's very hard to get a domain name with a .com domain as compared to .org. Same as in the case of .org, it's very hard to find a domain name that is not already taken, but it's easy as compared to the .com extension domain. 

  • Getting a .com domain name is worthful as compared to .org as people can easily find out about your business online by using the .com domain extension 

  • In case of cost, here.org wins the race as it is less expensive as compared to .com. .org is usually few dollars cheap as compared to .com

  •  .com extension are more mobile friendly as well as easy to remember and search in the search engine

The conclusion is you can still go with the .com domain name extension although it will be hard for you to get a domain name you like with the .com extension however you can change one or two words and can go for .com domain.
